Amber Spivey
RDN, LD, CDCES
I am a Registered Dietitian (RDN), Licensed Dietitian (LD) and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES). I thoroughly enjoy helping individuals navigate the complexities of chronic disease management and risk reduction, and I delight in supporting individuals as they heal their relationship with food, break free of diet culture and say goodbye to yo-yo dieting.
After concluding my Human Nutrition and Dietetics degree at the University of North Carolina, I completed my dietetic internship with Morrison Healthcare. Most of my career as a dietitian has been dedicated to providing medical nutrition therapy and education for individuals living with a variety of considerations. These include diabetes (type I, type II, Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults (LADA), gestational diabetes), prediabetes, eating disorders, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, and much more.
With eight years practicing as a Registered Dietitian and many more providing nutrition support in various settings, I bring understanding of nutrition complexities and considerations into sessions. I have worked in nutrition program development and have had the opportunity to create a nutrition education program at a transitional home for young mothers who had experienced domestic abuse and lack of housing. Combining my love of nutrition, community, and gardening, I have collaborated with several organizations to provide fresh produce for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. I have also worked in a nutrition management capacity in long-term care.
